Knitwear Care:
Store knitwear folded (not hung) as prolonged hanging can warp the garment shape.
Do not machine wash, do not dry clean, do not tumble dry.
Minimises washes. Knitwear can be refreshed by hanging out in fresh air for a time.
Handwash knitwear in cold water using a wool or delicates detergent (we use Ecostore’s “wool & delicates”). Immerse the knitwear, gently agitate, and leave to soak for ~5minutes.
Rinse with cold water and gently squeeze out excess (DO NOT WRING). Fold the knitwear in a towel and continue to squeeze out the water. Lay the knitwear on a dry towel in the shade to dry further.
Moths have excellent taste and enjoy our wooly knits just as much as we do. To protect against moth damage, store in a dry place and use moth repellents e.g. dried lavender pouches or red cedarwood moth balls such as those from NZ brand Babu. If you think moths have gotten into your garments, place them in a plastic bag in your freezer overnight to kill any unseen larvae.
Pilling is a natural occurrence for knitwear and can be gently removed with a pilling comb.
Other Garment Care:
Cold hand wash garments for garment longevity.
Dry on clothes rack or washing line. Do not tumble dry.
Repairs:
Toad + Monster offers free repairs on all our garments. All you need to pay for is the postage of your garment for its trip to us and then back to you.
To arrange a repair, please email us photos and a description of the damage at toadandmonster@gmail.com. Then we will ask you to send us the garment and then we will provide an estimated time of repair completion.
Some repairs may be difficult to conceal — in these cases we will do decorative repairs that will add new character to your garment. This aligns with the Japanese principle of Kintsugi, meaning “to join with gold,” that embraces life’s imperfections and missteps by making repairs so beautiful they elevate the original piece.
